Lois/USA, the advertising firm spearheaded by George Lois, closed in 2000. Not being a person to rest on his laurels, George wanted, no needed, to keep working. Not having a bullpen to handle the production of his Big Ideas, he turned to his son Luke, a successful photographer, for help. That was the beginning of Good Karma Creative, a Big Idea-driven branding and advertising company, and since that day, father and son have been sitting side by side.
George Lois is the only person in the world inducted into The Art Directors Hall of Fame, The One Club Creative Hall of Fame, with Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts,The Herb Lubalin Award (Society of Publication Designers), CLIO, as well as a subject of the Master Series at the School of Visual Arts. In 2013, Lois was voted The Most Influential Art Director of the Past50 Years by Graphic Design USA. Playboy recently called him “The greatest adman who ever lived.”
A 1984 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Luke Lois went on to do advertising and editorial photography for numerous magazines and advertising agencies. And now, under the tutelage of his father, George, has become an excellent designer in his own right.
